Steps

  1. Click the AI Assistant icon
  2. Ask a question about your business data
  3. The assistant reads your ledger and answers directly
  4. Use it to save time on lookups and analysis

The AI assistant is a chat panel with real access to your ledger — not a generic chatbot bolted on the side, but something that can answer "what's my cash balance" or "which invoices are overdue" by actually reading your data and replying with the real number.

What it can (and can't) do

By default, it reads and answers — lookups, summaries, quick analysis — without changing anything. On Pro plans and above, the same assistant can also act: navigate the app, draft entries, or reconcile on request, but always as something you explicitly ask it to do, not something that runs unattended in the background.

It runs locally by default, meaning the model processing your question doesn't require your ledger data to leave your machine. Free-tier usage is quota-limited per day rather than unlimited; Pro and above remove that ceiling and unlock bringing your own commercial API key if you'd rather use a specific external model.

Tips

  • Ask it the same question you'd ask a bookkeeper — "how much do I owe vendor X" works better than trying to phrase things like a database query.
  • It's a genuine time-saver for the kind of lookup that would otherwise mean clicking through several list pages — outstanding balances, recent activity, quick totals.
  • If a response seems off, the underlying reports (Trial Balance, Aged Receivables, etc.) are always the authoritative source — the assistant reads the same data, but the report is where you'd verify a number that matters.
