Payroll in Redovix is two steps: set up who you're paying under Employees, then run a payroll cycle under Payroll Entry that turns their salary into a single posted ledger entry, with tax and pension already worked out.

What makes the Ethiopia payroll math real

For a company registered in Ethiopia, payroll doesn't use a flat estimated tax rate — it applies the actual progressive PAYE brackets (income up to ETB 2,000 exempt, then rising through 15/20/25/30/35% bands) and the standard 7% employee / 11% employer pension contribution, capped at ETB 15,000 of monthly gross. Every payroll run recalculates this per employee automatically; you're not maintaining a spreadsheet of brackets on the side.

Both salaried and hourly employees are supported. Salaried employees are paid their set monthly rate every run; hourly employees need a gross amount entered for that specific run, since Redovix doesn't track timesheets — you're telling it what to pay, not deriving it from hours worked.

Tips

  • Payroll and Employees are a Business-plan feature — if you're on Free or Pro, these screens show what upgrading unlocks rather than the working forms.
  • A payroll run posts one consolidated ledger entry for the whole run, not one per employee — easier to review and reverse if something needs correcting before period close.
  • Pension and PAYE rates shown in the app are the verified current defaults, but tax law changes — confirm they're still current before relying on them for an actual filing.
