Steps

  1. Open Reports
  2. Select "Trial Balance"
  3. Choose your date range and run the report
  4. Select "Balance Sheet"
  5. Run the report — your financial position at a glance

Every document you've created in the other tutorials — invoices, bills, payroll runs, asset depreciation — ultimately rolls up into the reports covered here. Nothing needs to be manually compiled; every report reads directly from the same ledger every transaction already posted to.

Trial balance first, always

Trial Balance is the report to check before trusting any other number: it lists every account with its debit and credit total, and if it's not balanced, something in the underlying data needs attention before a balance sheet or income statement can be trusted. It's also the first item on the year-end close checklist covered in the Company Preferences tutorial.

Balance Sheet is the summary view most people actually want day to day — assets, liabilities, and equity at a point in time, built from exactly the same underlying entries as the trial balance, just organized for reading rather than for verification.

Tips

  • Every report on this screen supports a custom date range — useful for a mid-year check, not just year-end.
  • PDF export is unlimited on every plan, including Free — a report you can trust to hand to an accountant or bank without a paywall in the way.
  • If a trial balance doesn't balance, look for a transaction still in draft status — unposted entries are the most common cause.
